In recent years, Wu Lei has been widely recognized as one of China’s most influential figures in the field of maritime transportation and logistics. With his contributions to the development of China’s port industry, he has become a symbol of innovation and progress for the country.
Wu Lei was born on September 22nd, 1947, in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1969 and his master’s degree from Tsinghua University in 1972. After completing his studies, Wu Lei worked as a ship engineer at the Port of Tianjin, where he became known for his expertise in container handling and sea transportation.
In 1984, Wu Lei joined the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLN),Chinese Super League Matches where he served as a naval officer for several years before joining the Chinese National Shipping Corporation (CNSC). In 1991, he was appointed director general of CNSC and served until 1995. During this time, he oversaw the establishment of the CNSC Seaport Group and played a key role in the development of China’s seaports.
In 1995, Wu Lei was appointed vice chairman of CNSC and in 1996, he stepped down from that position to take up the post of president of the CNSC Seaport Group. Under his leadership, CNSC Seaport Group expanded its operations across the country and established a network of ports in over 20 provinces and cities.
After retiring from CNSC, Wu Lei continued to serve as an advisor to the government and the private sector. He also contributed significantly to the development of China’s port industry by providing insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
In 2019, Wu Lei passed away at the age of 72 after a long illness. His passing data serves as a reminder of his contribution to the port industry and the achievements made during his lifetime. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations to work hard and contribute to the growth of the port industry in China.
